Living in Limbo

hovering in between then

and there

is now.

so what do you do

in that vast space

just before

wondering

and wandering

cease?

suspended–

confined–

but not held

by anything but you

when does purgatory

become a playground?

who gives you permission

to leave or stay?

when does your freedom

encroach upon

another’s safety?

what then?

who do you answer to?

what compels you to care

about the place

others are ensnared?

This sphere

is all we know

when you

are sitting in limbo

the penultimate question

lingers

and it feels

like it has something

to do with letting go.
